Leadership is a “full body sport!”
Beginning Your Embodied Leadership Journey
At the Leader Lab, the emphasis is on body and mind (somatic) practices vs simply learning new concepts. The primary framework for this curriculum is building the capacity to have all the conversations you need in order to:
get in touch with what really matters to you,
express where you are leading your team and why,
cultivate their commitment to a vision and help them navigate breakdowns in planning and execution.
How Leader Lab Courses are Structured:
5 weeks in duration
Meeting 90-120 minutes at the same time each week
Include a one hour personal coaching session
Curated private Linked In Group for each course cohort to stay connected and share content
Typical Agenda each week:
Check in on individual concerns/progress
15-20 minutes of movement to guide your attention to your body
Breakout group exercise and debrief so everyone benefits from anyone’s insights
Introduction of new distinctions (content)
Breakout group exercise to apply new distinctions and debrief
Discussion of what to notice and reflect on until next session
Courses need to be taken in this sequence:
Introductory Course:
“What Do You Really Care About?”
This course focuses on the important first step of getting in touch with what is really important to you, so that you can “speak from this care” in all of your conversations with your team. As the introductory course, it is also designed to provide a sample of the richness of embodied learning distinctions and practices.
Course 2:
“The Stories We Live By”
Before we can effectively cultivate commitment in others, we need to first examine what holds us back from freely and powerfully pursuing our own commitments. This course will introduce some of the key conversations leaders need to be competent in having with themselves and their teams.
Course 3:
“Being a Customer of Your Care”
Work gets done in teams and organizations because of the network of commitments between team members. This commitment conversation begins with leaders making commitments to external customers on behalf of their teams.
